I am a registered social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and hold a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto. In addition, I have a Bachelors of Education from OISE (University of Toronto) and a B.A. Honours degree from York University.
With over 15 years of professional experience, I have worked extensively with families, children, adolescents, and adults.
Working as a secondary school teacher both locally and internationally, I quickly discovered I had an ability to provide compassionate support to students while offering empathetic and helpful insight. Helping counsel and provide guidance to young adults motivated me to alter my career choice from teaching to counseling and psychotherapy. I have had the privilege to help many people both individually and in their relationships.
My work is based on individual client needs and preferences. I have expertise in various modalities and treatment areas, including:
Trauma and Disassociation
Attachment disruptions and repair
Addictions
Anxiety and stress
Depression
Mood disorders
Other mental health concerns
ADHD management
Family therapy
Relationships and marriage
Conflict management
Suicide/self harm/self destructive behaviours
Life transitions
On a personal note; I love morning coffee, reading books in my rocking chair, and eating deep fried treats when it rains. I am a single parent of two children. My latest obsessions are compassion-based spirituality and traveling to new countries.
